International World Games Association
The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit international sports association founded in 1980 in which the sports participating in the World Games are united. Its aim is to promote the popularity of the sports it represents. The World Games are an international competition for athletes whose sports and disciplines do not belong to the Olympic competition programme but still have a high worldwide distribution. They are held every four years in alternating locations, each year after the Summer Olympics. The organiser is the International Association for World Games (IWGA) under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. The most important decision-making body is the General Assembly, which meets every four years prior to the World Games. It determines the seven-member board and makes important decisions such as the choice of the venue for the World Games and the selection of World Games sports. The next World Games will be held in 2021 in Birmingham, AL (USA).Website
